Gaeltec Redesigns High Pressure Needle Transducers

PRQuick.com
Gaeltec, a pioneer in the design and manufacture of transducers and pressure measurement equipment for over 40 years, announces a redesign of its high pressure needle transducers. The redesign improves the strength and durability of the transducers and reduces the risk of membrane rupture at higher pressures.

The CTN-4F with domed tip is the first transducer available with the new design. The transducer body is 140 millimeters long and 1.33 millimeters in diameter. The sensor is a thin film resistive sensor housed in AISI Type 304 surgical steel. The transducer has a pressure range of up to 3MPa; its overpressure is not known.

The CTN-4F is supplied with 500 millimeters of flexible silicone rubber cable terminated in a 6-pin Lemo series 2 connector. A 2 meter extension cable is also available.

The revamped CTN-4F is intended for in-vitro pressure measurements on spinal models and/or cadavers. It is not for use on human subjects.

With the announcement of its transducer redesign, the Scotland-based Gaeltec maintains its position as a leader in the medical equipment field. Founded in 1971 by Donald Maclachlan, Gaeltec has maintained its manufacturing facilities in the remote town of Dunvegan, Scotland, since 1977. Ninety-five percent of Gaeltec™s equipment is for the medical field; the company internationally exports 60 percent of its product.

Gaeltec was bought out in 2010 by London-based Digitimer. The privately-held Digitimer designs and manufactures electronic equipment for medical device manufacturer and research use. Its products include electrical stimulators used in surgical suites and neurophysiology departments throughout the world.

About Gaeltec

Donald Maclachlan the man behind Gaeltec started the business in a little stone workshop, which the business quickly outgrew. In 1976 Gaeltec™s operations demanded that Maclachlan approach the local town board and ask for their help in acquiring a new building in order to conduct business. In May 2010 the company was bought out by London based, Digitimer.

About Digitimer

A privately held company, Digitimer Ltd was established in 1972 to design and manufacture electronic equipment for medical and research applications. Their current product range includes a number of electrical stimulators and amplifiers which are used in clinical neurophysiology departments and operating theatres all over the world.
